Ultimate Line-Up of Fan Favorites Available in PlayStation®3 Package

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today announced METAL GEAR SOLID: THE LEGACY COLLECTION will be available in North America and South America on July 9, 2013.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the METAL GEAR SOLID franchise, this PlayStation®3 exclusive package will include METAL GEAR SOLID, METAL GEAR SOLID 2: HD Edition, METAL GEAR SOLID 3: HD Edition (which includes the original MSX versions of METAL GEAR and METAL GEAR 2), METAL GEAR SOLID: Peace Walker HD Edition, METAL GEAR SOLID: VR MISSIONS, METAL GEAR SOLID 4: Trophy Edition and two Ashley Wood digital graphic novels which will be released for the first time in North America. In addition, the collection will include an all-new 100 page art book highlighting marketing art from across the globe, spanning the profound 25 year history of the esteemed franchise.

The METAL GEAR SOLID series is the seminal work of Hideo Kojima, Japan’s master game creator, and the progenitor of the stealth action game genre. With more than 33 million units sold to date, the METAL GEAR series has become a global phenomenon. The player controls a secret agent from an elite special forces unit who is sent on solo stealth missions through enemy installations, vast jungles, and sometimes even the thick of battle. Alone and surrounded by the enemy, even a special forces agent will find it tough to come out alive. No release date has been given as well as if the PC version will come prepacked with the DLC released thus far. Hopefully it will come sooner than later though. More details to come for sure.

Reactivated by Desperado Enforcement’s leader Sundowner and serving under Mistral, the DLC reveals LQ-84i’s story prior to him battling and eventually joining forces with Raiden and becoming Blade Wolf. Players can battle countless enemies using an arsenal of weapons and abilities, culminating in an all-new boss battle.

The Blade Wolf DLC is available now for $6.99 for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and 560 Microsoft points for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft.

GameSpot and Konami that its third annual Pre-E3 Show 2013 will be live-streamed on GameSpot and through the GameSpot TV app on Xbox Live. The show kicks off at 10 a.m. PDT on June 6. A special landing page for the presentation is now live.

Gamers who tune into the show will be briefed on Konami news, game trailers, and exclusive interviews ahead of the 2013 Electronic Entertainment Expo the following week.

Notably, Konami will give an inside look into Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain during the show and will also debut an all-new trailer for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Behind the scenes footage for the next Pro Evolution Soccer title will also be on hand.

To bolster the reach of the event, CBS television stations in eight markets will air promotions for the show. This marks the first time a gaming company’s online news event will be promoted in a nationwide TV ad campaign.

Promos for the Konami event will air on CBS stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Seattle, and Sacramento, as well as through CW stations in San Francisco, Atlanta, and Seattle beginning May 27.

In the recent HideoBlog web radio show hosted by Konami (via: Game Jouhou), Hideo Kojima talked about Zone of the Enders HD Collection and the reason why we might have to wait a little longer to see a Zone of the Enders sequel.

Kojima started the show by assuming the persona of the humorous Moby Dick Studio CEO, Joakim N. Mogren, with the bandaged mask. However, his humorous tone quickly changed to a more stern voice once he began to talk about Zone of the Enders HD Collection. After reading plenty of feedback, especially from fans of the PlayStation 2 versions of the game, it has come to his attention that his recent HD Remaster didn’t live up to the expectation of the franchise’s loyal fans, to whom he offers his deepest apologies.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection’s transition from 30 FPS to 60 was not as smooth as Kojima had hoped for. While it wasn’t as noticeable to first-time players, those who enjoyed the original seamless fast-paced games were able to feel the choppiness. Kojima believes that such action-heavy games deserve nothing but the smoothest gameplay to fully enjoy. Due to this problem, Kojima and his team have re-programmed the entire game, and will release a free PlayStation 3 patch that should fix the problem and greatly enhance its performance. There won’t be a patch for the Xbox 360 version for the time being.

Not only has this incident prompted Kojima to work on a patch to fix the problem, but it has also put a halt to the Enders’s Project which was announced last year as a Zone of the Enders sequel. The entire team behind the project has been dismantled, as Kojima would like to re-evaluate the franchise before moving forward, he says. Furthermore, he also wants to re-evaluate fans by asking once more, whether they would still like to see a Zone of the Enders sequel.

The release date of the upcoming patch for the PlayStation 3 version of Zone of the Enders HD Collections has not been announced yet.

In the beginning you play as “LQ-84i” part of the Desperado corporation that Raiden eventually confronts. At your disposal will be the use of LQ’s chainsaw, as well the ability to equip sub-weapon such as “throwing knife”. In addition, a new character, “Kamushin” appears as this chapter of the story unfolds. The price for this collection will run aprox: 7,182 Yen (includes tax) from the Konami Style Japan store. This is clearly intended for collectors so we are unsure as to quantities and availability upon release.

Our affiliate MGS.be informed us that this is the first time that the three HD episodes will be sold together in Japan. Peace Walker HD was was sold seperately in the HD Edition when it was released. Moreover, it is Kojima Productions that handled the remastering of Peace Walker. MGS2 HD and MGS3 HD has been entrusted to Bluepoint Games . 

So you may be asking yourself, this is great, so what about a Euro release for Metal Gear Solid The Legacy Collection?!?! Konami of Europe has yet to announce anything yet but we are sure they will in the coming days-weeks. Stay tuned to MGN, we will keep you posted of any further news regarding this collection.
