Hey everyone, Leo here.
After a few rough long days, the Metal Gear Network is back to it’s normal self. I hope you guys enjoy the new look and I’m sorry about the downtime these past few days. Long story short, due to the vicious hack attack MGN suffered greatly and I had to rebuild the site from old backups and basically from the ground up again. Any posts made before August are gone for now. Restoring the rest could take weeks, but this is what we’ve got for now.
The good news is that this was a huge eye-opener for me. The site is now more secure, will load faster, and new backup procedures are in place to create a daily archive. Should this ever happen again, we are covered.
There are a couple other changes to the site though. The forums are not returning. The maintenance involved and the lack of consistent use helped me come to this decision. I would rather everyone use our subreddit for site discussion, so be sure to head on over to our MGN subreddit and subscribe. We will be using that much much more. We are also VERY active on our Twitch.TV channel so check us out there as well.
Lastly and most importantly, I will be focusing on bringing more original content to the site. I already have a Youtube series I am working on as well as other opinion pieces and merchandise pictorials since I am a big Metal Gear Collector myself. Look forward to that.
I’ve also been asked what I plan to do with this site since the breakup of Kojima and Konami. Like many of you I, myself, am still very curious in seeing what Konami will do with the franchise so until Konami is done with the IP altogether (which I can’t imagine they will be anytime soon), MGN will remain a Metal Gear focused website but MGN will cover Kojima Production happenings because of Kojima. This site has always been a “Konami” games and “Metal Gear” focused site. All I can say is expect to maybe see more classic Konami game coverage here and even coming Konami-related news as it may be interesting to other MGN fans. The main focus will continue to be on the Metal Gear universe.
I’m hoping 2016 will be a good one, and I hope you’ll join me.
